Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. is a professional corporation founded in 1960 by Harvey R. Dodd to engage in the private practice of professional engineering and architectural consulting. Pacific Engineering Technologies began as Dodd & Milligan for a short time, and then continued as Harvey R. Dodd & Associates, Inc. By 1987, Mr. Dodd had retired and the company was renamed Dodd Pacific Engineering to reflect the firm’s steady growth and expansion of services throughout the western United States. In July 1995, the company became Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc.
Currently, Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. employs more than 20 professional engineers, architects, designers, draftsmen, technical assistants, and support staff. We have an outstanding record of developing effective solutions and providing top-quality services to our clients.

Mr. Smith performs the overall quality control for the firm and directs many of the company’s structural rehabilitation design projects and building damage assessments. He works on the firm’s out-of-state projects and supervises the company’s day-to-day operations. Mr. Smith joined Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. in 1997, was made principal in 2006, and became president in 2017.
Kyle J. Bozick
P.E., S.E., Principal

Professional Engineer License: California
Education: B.S.C.E., University of Washington
Mr. Bozick is a lead structural engineer for the firm and manages many of the building damage assessments and rehabilitation design projects. As a specialist in over-water construction, he has designed many repairs as well as new piers in Lake Washington, Union Bay, and Puget Sound. He has extensive experience in evaluating existing buildings by performing investigations of water intrusion causes as well as designing the repairs. Mr. Bozick joined Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. in 2001, was made principal in 2010, and became vice president in 2019.
James F. Paustian
P.E., S.E., Principal

Education: B.S.C.E., Iowa State University 1981, M.S.E. University of Texas
Mr. Paustian serves as a structural engineer for many of the company’s water intrusion and building evaluation studies, damage assessments, construction defect studies and design projects. Mr. Paustian has also performed numerous seismic evaluations and developed strengthening schemes for buildings throughout Washington and California. Mr. Paustian joined the firm in 1995 and became a principal in 2000.
Ryan P. Barrett

Mr. Barrett is involved in many of the company’s structural design projects, damage assessments, and building system evaluations. Mr. Barrett joined Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. in 2000 and was made a Principal in 2017.
Jeffrey M. Bozick

Mr. Bozick is involved in many of the company’s structural design projects, damage assessments, and building evaluation studies. Mr. Bozick joined Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. in 2004 and was made a principal in 2018.
Mark A. Schaefer

Education: B.S.C.E., Southern Illinois University
Mr. Schaefer is involved in many of the company’s structural design projects, damage assessments, and building evaluation studies. He spent seven years with engineering firms in Missouri, and the Illinois Department of Mines and Minerals prior to joining Pacific Engineering Technologies in 1989. Mr. Schaefer served as Vice President from 2010 through 2019.
Mark Uchimura

Mr. Uchimura is involved in many of the company’s structural design projects, damage assessments, water intrusion, and building evaluation studies. Mr. Uchimura joined Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. in 1988 after working for the Pierce County Public Works Department and the Seattle Engineering Department. He served as president from 2010 through 2017.
Christian E. Juenke

Mr. Juenke serves as Project Manager for many of the company’s structural design projects, damage assessments, and building evaluation studies. Mr. Juenke joined Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. in March 2015 after graduating from the University of Washington with a master’s degree in December 2014. His hard work has proven to be a valuable asset to our firm.
Caleb Buchanan

Mr. Buchanan serves as Engineering Designer for many of the company’s structural design projects, damage assessments, and building evaluation studies. Mr. Buchanan joined Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. in October 2018 after working for the Port of Seattle as a civil/structural engineering designer. His skills in engineering analysis have been very beneficial for our team.
Georgia Marcondes
E.I.T., Engineering Designer
Ms. Marcondes serves as an Engineering Designer for many of the company’s structural design projects, damage assessments, and building evaluation studies. Ms. Marcondes joined Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. in July 2021 after graduating from Walla Walla University with a bachelor’s degree in June 2021.
Michael S. Nylander
P.E., Project Manager

Professional Engineer License: Washington
Mr. Nylander’s diverse design and project management experience includes marine facilities, aquaculture, petrochemical, pulp & paper, aerospace, automotive, retail and structural forensics investigations. Mr. Nylander serves as a structural engineer in the company’s water intrusion studies, damage assessments and building envelope repair projects. Mr. Nylander joined Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. in 2021.
Caleb Eriksen

Mr. Eriksen serves as an Engineering Designer, supporting other engineers with their structural design projects, damage assessments, and building evaluations. Mr. Eriksen joined Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. in March 2022 after graduating from the University of Washington in March 2022.
Natalie Sielaff

Ms. Sielaff serves as an Engineering Designer for many of the company’s structural design projects, damage assessments, and building evaluation studies. Ms. Sielaff joined Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. in May 2022 after graduating from the University of Illinois-Chicago with a master’s degree.

Nathan Fritz

Affiliations: Seattle Building Enclosure Council, International Code Council
Mr. Fritz serves as Principal Architect on the company’s building envelope, damage repair and remodel projects. His responsibilities include: construction management, code review, building envelope and air barrier design for commercial and residential structures, preparation of technical specifications and detailing of waterproofing assemblies. Mr. Fritz joined Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. in 1999 and was made a Principal in 2014.
Bertha Lozano
Architectural Designer
Education: Bachelor of Architecture – University of Mexico
Ms. Lozano serves as an Architectural Designer for many of the company’s architectural design projects, including commercial renovations and tenant improvements. Ms. Lozano joined Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. in June 2018 after working as a project manager at an architectural firm in Bellevue. Her extensive knowledge and skill in architectural design has been essential to the success of our recent design projects.
Simon Georgieff
Architectural Designer
Mr. Georgieff has been working hard providing support to the design team in building envelope and other architectural design projects. He joined Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. in 2019 after working as a project manager at a small architectural firm in California. His ability to learn quickly and communicate clearly has been a great addition to our team.
Jan Bredal

Education: Bachelor of Architecture Washington State University 1971
Mr. Bredal has extensive experience in the production of architectural projects including: project management, document preparation and code review, technical specification writing and space planning for commercial, industrial and health care projects in Washington, Utah, Alaska, Oregon and California. He has also provided construction administration on many projects. Mr. Bredal served as principal from 1990 through 2010.
Ryan Perkins
Architectural Designer
Education: B.S. in Architectural Engineering, Oregon State University 2022
As the newest member of our architectural design team, Mr. Perkins serves as an architectural designer, working hard to provide support to other designers in building envelope and architectural design projects. Mr. Perkins joined Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. in June 2023 after graduating from Oregon State University with a bachelor’s degree.

Jeffrey A. Smith
Accounting Controller and Office Manager
Education: B.A., Economics – University of Puget Sound
Mr. Smith is in charge of the accounting department and also acts as office manager. He joined Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. in 2013.
Theresa R. Long
Receptionist
Ms. Long, our receptionist, is the friendly voice that you hear when you call. Besides her receptionist duties, Ms. Long also maintains our job database and proofreads and edits engineering reports. Ms. Long joined Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. in 1996.
Christopher D. Bacus
Permit Specialist and Senior CAD Technician
Mr. Bacus is in charge of handling permit submittals to cities and counties across the State of Washington, and provides our engineers with technical support using AutoCAD to produce drawings and specifications. Mr. Bacus joined Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. in 1999.
Christopher J. Nunes
Senior CAD Technician
Education: M.A., Architecture – Arizona State University
Mr. Nunes provides our engineers with technical support using AutoCAD to produce drawings and specifications. He also provides architectural design assistance on some of our remodel and repair projects. Mr. Nunes joined Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. in January 2016. Mr. Nunes previously worked as a project manager and architectural designer and incorporates this knowledge of architecture into his drafting work.
Vinh H. Nguyen
Senior CAD Technician
Mr. Nguyen provides our engineers with technical support using AutoCAD to produce drawings and specifications. He also performs architectural design services on several of our remodel and repair projects along with providing 3D models and renderings. Mr. Nguyen joined Pacific Engineering Technologies, Inc. in March 2016. Mr. Nguyen previously worked as a project manager and architectural designer up until he started working at our firm.
Jessica Gaitan Van Hollebeke
Administrative Assistant
Ms. Gaitan is performing administrative duties for the president and principals of the company as well as coordinating companywide meetings and events. She joined Pacific Engineering Technologies Inc. in October 2022.
