Warehouse Building – Marysville, WA
Roof Collapse Investigation
A section of the roof of the warehouse collapsed during the heavy snows that fell in December 2008 in Marysville, Washington. When we arrived, the building had been red-tagged by the City of Marysville so that the occupants had restricted access. The roof structure of the building consisted of steel frames with light gage steel purlins and decking. The failure of the roof system was initiated at one of the frames where the end of the frame was not properly braced. Collapse of this first frame caused a progressive failure that pulled down several other frames.
