Oakland Firestorm 1991
A large fire broke out on the northern hills of Oakland, California on October 10, 1991. The fire quickly swept through the surrounding neighborhoods damaging more than 3,000 homes and 400 apartment and condominium units. We sent a team of about a dozen engineers, architects and administrative staff members to California and opened a satellite office in the area. The majority of our work consisted of foundation assessments since many of the homes had been completely destroyed by fire. We provided architectural repair services for the reconstruction of several of the larger buildings that we reviewed. Our staff worked in the area for 4 to 6 months. |
