Northridge Earthquake 1994

A massive earthquake occurred in Los Angeles, California on January 17, 1994. The quake had a magnitude of 6.7. The ground motion from the quake was one of the highest ever-recorded in North America and caused substantial damage and collapse of many buildings. With only 4 hours notice, we assembled a team of a half dozen engineers and traveled down to southern California. During our 2-month stay, we performed evaluations of many commercial buildings as well as several residential buildings.
