Haiti Earthquake 2010
A massive earthquake occurred in Haiti on January 12, 2010. The quake had a magnitude of 7.0. The ground motion from the quake caused major damage in Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital, and the surrounding region. Mr. Michael Smith, a structural engineer at our office, traveled to Haiti to review the condition of a school complex that had been damaged. Once back at the office, Mr. Smith designed repairs for one of the school buildings. He also provided recommendations for the repair of several other damaged buildings, which then had local engineers design the repairs as a part of upgrades to the buildings.
