We specialize in forensic engineering on existing building structures and building envelope systems.
Through investigation of the site conditions and detailed engineering analysis of the structural components, we are able to determine the cause of reported damage to a building. Typically our investigation consists of a visual non-destructive review of the building structure. However, sometimes finish removal or demolition is necessary to get to the answer.
Review of the building envelope system typically requires the removal of siding, trim or other exterior wall finishes. By visual review of the building exterior, we are able to quickly identify the most likely locations for rainwater intrusion. With the aid of a contractor, the finishes are removed at these locations to see how the weather-resistive barrier and flashings are installed and to see if water intrusion into the wall system has occurred and if it has resulted in decay damage.
