14th Avenue Apartments - Seattle, WA
We performed an investigation where areas of the existing marblecrete cladding and cedar siding were removed at two stacks of decks and the underlying conditions were reviewed. We found that the waterproofing assemblies were not installed properly at the decks, which was resulting in moisture intrusion. The moisture had caused heavy damage to the wood framing at the decks and at the adjacent building walls.
We designed repairs for the decks and performed periodic site visits during construction to review the contractor’s work. The repair work included rebuilding the decks, installing new windows and sliding glass doors and installing new fiber-cement board siding in place of the existing marblecrete cladding and cedar siding.
